Dr. Gabriel Cipau has spent 42 years in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. He joined Burroughs Wellcome Co. as a research scientist in 1970 and held positions of increasing responsibility in R&D and manufacturing, including Director of Technical Research & Development and Senior Vice President of Operations. In these capacities Dr. Cipau was involved in the development and production of 23 new cardiovascular, antibacterial, and antiviral pharmaceutical products. In 1993, he was appointed President and CEO of Wellcome Japan and a member of the Board of Directors of Wellcome PLC and of Wellcome Foundation LTD based in the United Kingdom. Dr. Cipau joined Copley Pharmaceuticals as President and CEO in 1995 and later was a founder, CEO and President of Catalytica Pharmaceuticals, Biolex and PhaseBio Pharmaceuticals.

Following his retirement in 2010, Dr, Cipau established Key Healthcare Inc., a consulting company providing services for investors and companies involved in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology areas. He is a member of the Board of Directors of several companies operating in this field. Dr. Cipau joined the Board of Directors of Bob Barker Company in 2010 and serves as chairman of the Compensation committee and member of Audit and Governance committees.

Dr. Cipauenjoys outdoor activities including boating, fishing, snow skiing and bicycle riding. He characterizes himself as a voracious reader and an active chess player (with 12 games open at any given moment).
